Are you in need of a recipe that is so quick that you need it to be as fast grabbing take out? This Honey Garlic Steak Bites recipe is it. Yes, you need to have the steak on hand and yes you should marinate it for at least an hour before you cook it but in all honesty this is about as easy and as fast as a dinner recipe gets.
If you throw the steak bites in a ziploc bag with the marinade ingredients (thereโs only 3 of them) any time during the morning or afternoon, all you need is 3 minutes to cook it at dinner time. Thereโs no other prep. No other steps. Itโs that simple.
About the Ingredients
Sirloin steak – donโt skimp on the quality of the meat. It isnโt masked by much so tenderness is important.
Honey – local honey is always best if you can find it. The bees naturally deposit pollen into the honey so consuming it prevents so allergies caused by the same pollen.
Soy Sauce – I always use low sodium. The full sodium is too overpowering in my opinion.
Garlic – about 3 cloves, minced.
How to Make Honey Garlic Steak Bites
At least one hour prior to cooking, marinate your steak bites. Start by cutting the steak into bite size pieces and trimming any fat. Place the steak pieces in a large gallon size ziploc bag. Then pour in the honey, soy sauce and garlic. Seal the bag, shake it up and pop it into the refrigerator.
When youโre ready to cook, heat 2 tablespoons of olive oil in a large skillet. Place as many steak pieces in the hot pan as you can fit without over crowding. Cook for about one minute then flip each piece over and cook for one more minute or until itโs the temperature you like.
Transfer to a serving bowl and top with chopped scallions and / or toasted sesame seeds.
FAQโs & Recipe Tips
Can I use a different cut of beef? Yes. Remember to adjust the cooking time as needed depending on the thickness of the cut. Also be sure to use a tender cut. Youโre not cooking it long so tough meat will remain tough rather than soften as it does in low and slow cooking styles.
Can I start the marinating early in the morning before I leave the house for the day? Yes. Beef can hold up well to marinade for a long time without breaking down so feel free to start it early.
